With the development of glassblowing in Venice in the mid-15th c., the desire for this unique art form spread throughout Europe in the 16th/17th c. Often created by itinerant Venetians in the countries of England, Spain, France, Netherlands and Germany, they strongly resemble their Italian counterparts but frequently lack the correct glass and precision.
