The first Great Seal of the Realm of Elizabeth I(1533-1603) in black wax was used 1558- 1586 and is thought to have been created by Flemish artist Levina Teerlinc. The queen is seated on her throne holding an orb and scepter and riding a horse on the reverse.

The second Great Seal of the Realm of Elizabeth I. This brown wax seal was designed by famed miniaturist Nicholas Hilliard and used 1586-1603. It shows the Queen in full regalia. The Royal arms, the Tudor Rose of England, the Harp of Ireland and the Fleur de Lys of France. She is seated on her throne wearing a ruff collar and crown and is holding a scepter and orb. The reverse shows her in the same gown, mounted on horseback.
